All our lives we live in a kind of hypnosis. We don't know what we are doing, we don't really know why we are doing what we are doing. Only when the hypnosis breaks, one gets to realize what was going on. Meditation is the process of de-hypnosis and waking up to take control back of our life.
Patanjali in his Yoga sutras describes 9 obstacles in the path towards clarity and silence of the mind.
